On 11th February 2013 Viva con Agua comes back to Uganda, to take a look at the progress of the project region Lira, in the north of the country and to visit our friends in this region, the capital Kampala and of the ‘Welthungerhilfe’. | | | | thomas koch
The Viva con Agua tour group consists of our friends and longtime supporters Marteria (musician), Maeckes (musician), Paul Ripke (photographer) and Rainer Jilg (TV presenter ZDFkultur). Michael Fritz (founding member of VcA) and Marcel Eger (donator of VcA Foundation) will be representing Viva con Agua.
To bring the projects of the ‘Welthungerhilfe‘ and Viva con Agua and their focus on “water, sanitation, hygiene” (WASH) to a wider public, and to show the sense of long term aimed development projects to the audience, a team of the German public broadcasting company ZDF is part of the whole journey and will produce a report, which will be screened in two parts starting in June on ZDFkultur.
The focus of this visit is the importance of wells. Their functionality will be explained and the water committees in charge of the different wells will present their important work. The glaring contrast between the life conditions with and without access to clean drinking water is one of the central themes of the first part of the report of the journey, which is called ‘Wasser’ (German for water). One of the main aims of Viva con Agua is to reach out to young people and help them understand the global problems and challenges of the world they live
in.
Working with school children, we aim to give them a broader understainding of social and environmental issues. In addition to showing them challenges faced my many communities around the world, we also provide them with ideas on how to participate in a positive and sustainable way. (more...) |

In 2012 Viva con Agua has teamed up with the World Snowboard Tour, the strongest international snowboarding tour representing the most important snowboard events in Europe, North and South America, Asia and Oceania. This partnership is a great opportunity to expand the awareness level of Viva con Agua in winter sport regions such as Switzerland, Austria and also Southern Germany.
Viva con Agua will be represented at several high-level World Snowboard Tour contests, including the O’Neill Evolution (Davos), the Billabong Air & Style (Innsbruck) and the World Rookie Finals (Ischgl), in order to call the attention to the issue of non-access to clean drinking water and the lack of basic sanitary supplies in developing countries. Viva con Agua will also participate in this year’s ISPO (Munich) to inform about the WASH (WaterSanitationHygiene)-projects. | | | | Roland Haschka
At the O’Neill Evolution, which will take place at the Jakobshorn in Davos from January 14th to 19th, VcA will run a raffle, which later will be continued at the Billabong Air & Style in Innsbruck on February 1st and 2nd.
At the ISPO in Munich from February 3rd to 6th, VcA will mainly address WaterSanitationHygiene-topics (WASH).
Last but not least, VcA will attend the World Rookie Finals in Ischgl from April 4th to 6th. There we will inform and educate the next generation of snowboarding about problems in supplying developing countries with clean drinking water, as well as future projects to improve and eventually solve those problems.
